- We do not take credit or debit cards—checks (preferred) and cash only.
- If the recycling or household garbage dumpsters fill up early on Sunday before 1 p.m. we will close early—we are not allowed to stack garbage or recycling on the ground.
- If you come to the Transfer Station and the gates are closed on Sunday then this is what has happened—we only have four dumpsters on site: one for recycling, one for household garbage, one for scrap metal and an open dumpster for bulk items.
Thank you for your understanding. The town of Wolcott is happy to offer this service to our residents but please be aware we must strictly follow state guidelines and that must be adhered to to avoid any violations.
What we take
Trash
- Contractor bags—$8
- Large trash bag (30 gallon/30 lb. limit)—$6
- Kitchen bag (15 gallon/15 lb. limit)—$4
Recycling
- 15 gallon bag (or equivalent)—$1 per bag
- 30 gallon bag (or equivalent)—$2 per bag
- 45 gallon bag (or equivalent)—$4 per bag
Compost
- 5 gallon pail—$1
- Grocery bag—.25 cents
- Scrap metal (exclusive of white goods)—Free
- Washer/Dryers—$10/ea.
Bulk Waste
- Sofas—$15/ea. add $6 each for recliner or sleeper
- Upholstered chairs—$10/ea.
- Day Beds—$15/ea.
- Rugs and miscellaneous furniture—$20/ea.
Stumps
- Tree stumps, limbs, branches & bulk yard waste—$10/cu. yd.
- No boards allowed
- Leaves, lawn clippings, to be composted on site—FREE
Tires
- Lawn mower tires—$5/ea.
- Car tires 16″ and under—$6/ea.
- Car tires 17″ and over—$9/ea.
- Truck tires—$20/ea.
- All car tires with rims—$10/ea.
- Tractor tires—$41/ea.
- Tractor trailer tires—$20/ea.
- Motorcycle tires—$6/ea.
NO CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS OR DEBRIS

Recycled Clothing Drop-off
We have partnered with Helpsy for the reuse and recycling of clothing, shoes, linens, and fashion accessories. A complete list can be found at the bottom of this page. We cannot accept furniture and other housewares. Items are accepted in any condition for all ages and genders so long as they are:
- Clean, dry, and odorless.
- Everything should be kept dry in a closed, plastic bag.
