Village Wastewater Construction Begins Next Week

Posted: July 18, 2026

The Wolcott Wastewater Committee is excited to announce that a local contractor has been hired and will begin construction on the new Village wastewater system next week. The N.A. Manosh Corporation was the low bidder in the Town’s Request for Proposals to construct the project. The N.A. Manosh cost estimate was lower than the Wastewater Committee’s estimated cost.

The Wastewater Committee has successfully raised approximately $5 million for the project construction at no cost to town residents. After the system is installed, there will be small fee for village residents and businesses that are hooked up to it. Other town residents will only pay for the costs of municipal buildings hooked up to the system.

Representatives from N.A Manosh met with town, Lamoille Regional Planning Commission, Stone Environmental, and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation officials last week to sign the project contract and participate in a pre-construction meeting. Engineers at Stone Environmental will oversee all aspects of the construction. N.A. Manosh has already begun mobilizing equipment to Wolcott and will begin laying out the dispersal field work area. Construction will begin on the dispersal field located under the Wolcott Elementary School’s athletic field.

The wastewater system construction will be in two phases, with the first phase starting this summer and continuing through about Thanksgiving and the second phase picking back up again next spring and summer. N.A. Manosh will initiate construction at the school location and complete the dispersal field while the elementary school students are on their summer break, minimizing and disturbance to school outdoor activity. After the dispersal field is completed, N.A. Manosh will begin installing the forced main line from the dispersal field through the town forest right-of-way to School Street and continue along School Street to the Lamoille River. Next year work will continue along Route 15 and individual homes and businesses will be hooked up.

Of course, with any major construction project such as this, there are unexpected construction changes and possible delays that could change the overall schedule. The wastewater project will be fully completed and functioning by the end of summer 2027.

If you are a village landowner or business owner and have any questions about the project, please reach out to Alex Huizenga at Stone Environmental at: ahuizenga@stone-env.com or 802-233-3074
