The Wolcott Wastewater project is making progress with environmental review, final designs, and permitting and will start construction in spring of 2026.
**For properties that will connect to the system**- the deadline to submit easement deed paperwork is November 30. Please reach out if you have any questions or need another copy of the paperwork.
We are reminding village landowners that have not gotten back to the town and wastewater committee, that if you sign up now to be hooked up to the system, there will be no charge for the permitting, design, and construction to hookup. Landowners would only be required to pay the minimal monthly service and maintenance fee once the system is up and running. The town would then take on full responsibility for the system maintenance, inspection, repairs, and regular septic tank pump outs.
Landowners not signing up to be hooked up will be responsible for all the costs related to hooking up and permitting, which is estimated at $10,000-$20,000, should their current system fail.
Some recent project milestones include –
60% designs were reviewed by VT DEC. Our engineers are working on 90% designs.
Environmental studies are complete. Documentation and permit applications will be submitted to state agencies in the coming months.
Soil borings were advanced at Wolcott elementary school for groundwater testing. Results were shared with the School Board. Results came back positive and indicate that using these fields is very good for soil-based dispersal and public health.
Our next meeting is November 18 at the Town Office or on Zoom. Please join us to ask any questions you might have about the project.
